The Reading
Classic, the second leg of the Commerce Bank Triple
Crown of Cycling, will be held June 5, 2008.
Some 500 cyclists, professionals
and amateurs, are expected to race on the streets of
downtown Reading.
Festivities will begin at 9 a.m.
with an outdoor expo where fans can visit booths of
local businesses.
Starting at 10 a.m.,
the elite men’s teams will take to the course
for a 35-mile criterium, or short race, followed by
the 25-mile women’s elite race at 11:15 a.m.
The pros are scheduled
at 1 p.m. for the grueling 75-mile race, expecting to
end at 4-4:30 p.m.
